DEMOCRATS
NOMINATE DODD
CAMHI
REELECTED TO DNC
| May
8, 2004 --Connecticut Democrats convened in Hartford
today to give a rousing send-off to Senator Christopher
Dodd, nominating him to run for a historic fifth term
in the United States Senate. The annual State Convention,
held at the Expo Center in Hartford, drew thousands
of Democrats from every corner of Connecticut. Dodd,
of East Haddam, appeared with his wife, Jackie and their
daughter, referred to by Senator Joseph Lieberman as
“the Amazing Grace.”

Stamford's
own Ellen Camhi was elected to a fifth four-year term
on the Democratic National Committee. Camhi is the Chairwoman
of the Stamford Democrats. In nominating Camhi, Jim
Diamond, the State Central Committeeman from Stamford,
drew applause from the convention when he said, “There
is no stronger fighter for decency, for community, for
public education and for Democrats than Ellen Camhi.”
A
delegation of 50 Democrats represented Stamford and
watched a unified Party and a well-organized convention
chaired by George Jepsen, the Chairman of the State
Party and the former State Senator from Stamford. Working
the convention floor was Stamford Mayor, Dan
Malloy, who has announced his intentions to run for
Governor in 2006.

Camhi
said, “Democrats are more dedicated this year than
ever to defeat George Bush, elect John Kerry and to
win seats in Congress, especially right here in Fairfield
County.” Democrat Diane Farrell of Westport has been
nominated to run for Congress and Stamford Democrats
are energized and excited about her campaign. Camhi
has announced an aggressive voter registration
drive to register voters for the November elections.
