Stamford's own Ellen Camhi was elected to a fifth four-year term on the Democratic National Committee. Camhi is the Chairwoman of the Stamford Democrats. In nominating Camhi, Jim Diamond, the State Central Committeeman from Stamford, drew applause from the convention when he said, “There is no stronger fighter for decency, for community, for public education and for Democrats than Ellen Camhi.”

A delegation of 50 Democrats represented Stamford and watched a unified Party and a well-organized convention chaired by George Jepsen, the Chairman of the State Party and the former State Senator from Stamford. Working the convention floor   was Stamford Mayor, Dan Malloy, who has announced his intentions to run for Governor in 2006.
